The bold & the barefoot : ODWS

A day without shoes.
Have you ever attempted it?
It was actually very liberating not wearing shoes.
My body in general runs on the higher temperature side, so I really enjoyed it.

"One Day Without Shoes," is an annual event created by Toms Shoes.
Toms shoes purpose is simple. Give shoes to children in need. Here's a video from their website.

How hard is it to throw off your shoes for a day. Not hard. What's the point? By not wearing shoes we raise awareness and eyebrows. When the shoes wearing people of society see you walking around without shoes it's guaranteed to raise an eyebrow or two. Hopefully those raised eyebrows will make them curious enough to ask if there's a reason for your bare feet.

My One Day Without Shoes
It's not as painful as you think. Check out the bottom of my left foot after walking around UT Tyler on April 5, 2011 on the right. See not too bad. It might have been more unpleasant if we had a really cold, hot or rainy day.

For about $50-$80 you can get a designer pair of Toms Shoes and help sole the shoe-less. Not bad 2 pairs of shoes for around the same price as 1 pair of designer shoes.

The difference those shoes will make in the kids life is immeasurable. Do the right thing. Head over to their website find out if they have any outlets near you and get a pair. Do some good for the world next time you buy a pair of shoes.
